Today I’m sharing a eery card using Halloween Scenes Edgelits by Stampin’ Up! Halloween is right around the corner and I could just imagine trick-or-treating down a spooky road like this. As if that orange sky wasn’t enough to creep you out, these Edgelits include a frightening tree and shady fence.
My card is inspired by colors from Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge #PPA323 designed by yours truly. This combination of Tangerine Tango, Emerald Envy and Tip Top Taupe can be used as an alternative Halloween color palette and I think it would be great for Thanksgiving and Autumn in general.
For this card, my intention was to keep the card simple and focus on the colors in the challenge. I started by cutting the Edgelits using a Big Shot; the tree from Emerald Envy and the fence from Tip Top Taupe.
Sponge Daubers were used to add a spooky sky effect to the Tangerine Tango background. Rub a Sponge Dauber in a circular fashion on the Classic Stampin’ Pad, then in a circular motion on the cardstock. Rub heavily in the center and lighter as your circles get larger. To give the fence a different look, I pounced the Sponge Dauber instead of rubbing it.
I used Tip Top Taupe ink to stamp “eeek!” in the lower right of the card. Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue adheres the tree to the Tangerine Tango background and the background to a Tip Top Taupe card base.
To add some dimension, I layered to two pieces of Stampin’ Dimensions onto one another to pop up the center of the fence. Strong adhesive like Fast Fuse keeps the left and right edges flat. I think it makes the spooky curve a little spookier.
I hope you enjoyed the card today. Take a minute to stop by Pals Paper Arts. See the fun creations the other designers made with this color palette and make some time to play along and share your projects. Thanks for stopping by.
