Gradient Embossing Paste Technique

Gradient Embossing Paste Technique

Welcome! Today I’m honored to be a guest designer on Brian King’s blog StampWithBrian.com. I joined Brian’s Stampin’ Up! team two years ago and I’ve been having so much fun since.

While Brian is away enjoying a well-deserved trip to Thailand with Stampin’ Up! I’ve decided to share a Thai-inspired color combination using Embossing Paste. My favorite part of this paste is the great texture you can add to any card; but more than that, you can also color it easily using Classic Stampin’ Ink refills.

Here’s how to make this gradient embossing paste design:

Embossing Paste

Scoop out three dollops of embossing paste. I used a sheet of parchment paper so I can have plenty of space to spread my mess.

Make Embossing Paste in Any Color

Add drops of your favorite Classic Stampin’ refill inks. I used two drops each of Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry.

How to Color Embossing Paste

Mix to colorize the embossing paste.

Gradient Embossing Paste

Place a stencil over your pre-cut cardstock and spread the paste. Don’t worry if colors touch. A little blending is desired here.

Embossing Paste Over a Stencil

Scrape off the excess paste and remove the stencil. Allow to dry.

Stenciled Embossing Paste

Once the paste dried—which only takes a few minutes—I mounted the design to a piece of Basic Black cardstock and that onto So Saffron. I heat embossed a sentiment from the Hello Friend stamp set with White Stampin’ Emboss powder and glued the sentiment on top.

I hope you enjoyed the card today. If you did, please leave a comment below. Remember to visit Brian’s blog and see all the fun projects his guests have been sharing.
