Welcome to InKing Royalty’s August Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by popular song—this month’s song is “Dog Days Are Over.” While we still feel the heat from a long, hot summer, August is a perfect time of year to start planning our Fall-themed cards. The projects in our hop will showcase Autumn, back-to-school and warm colors – you might even see a dog or two! We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
Today I’m sharing a summery card that you can make with little fuss but offers a big punch of color. Your friends will think you spent all night creating it. I know a lot of you have a little anxiety about watercoloring, but trust me when I say, this doesn’t have to be difficult. Loosely painting delivers a lovely image without all the hassle you may think.
First stamp your image with a bright color like Bermuda Bay and before the ink dries, grab an Aqua Painter and fill in some of the image by pulling the ink into the shapes—like I did with the leaves.
Next squeeze your closed Classic Stampin’ Pad case to get some of the ink on the inside cover. Pick up that color with your Aqua Painter and loosely paint. In fact, you don’t want to paint too much because Stampin’ Up!’s Classic Ink dissolves in water, so you may lose your lines. Allow colors to bleed and blend and don’t forget to have fun with this.
Stamp a sentiment and use a punch to cut it out. Stampin’ Dimensionals attach the greeting and add a little—well—dimension. Make a card base using a vivid color like Lovely Lipstick and emboss another piece of the same color. Tear that as you like and glue it to the card base.
That’s all it takes to make an artistically-inspired watercolor card. Told you it was easy.
Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Candy Ford at Stamp Candy. There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group and you don’t want to miss it!
